The Jefferson Davis Community Hospital offers a wide range of health care services to the residents of Prentiss and Jefferson Davis County. The hospital utilizes the services of five area physicians and three dentists.

Emergency Services: The Emergency Services Department features emergent accomodations for major trauma, cardiac care, general medical treatment and fractures. All staff are trained in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Trauma Life Support and Basic Life Support.

Radiology: The Radiology Department offers Cat Scan, MRI, Ultrasounds and full body X-Rays. All technicians are accredited and for emergencies are on call 24 hours a day.

Laboratory: The Laboratory Staff is comprised of technically trained personnel with national certification of proficiency and is in compliance with all state and federal guideline requirements. The laboratory department can accept an order for lab testing from any physician from anywhere.

M.L. Arrington Fitness and Rehab Center: The M.L. Arrington Fitness and Rehab Center provides the individuals of this community with a wide array of fitness and strenth equipment to meet health goals. The Center provides a large selection of Circuit and Olympic Weight equipment, elliptical trainers, treadmills and bikes. Specialized classes are also available for members.

Physical Therapy: Physical therapy is available at JDCH to individuals in the hospital, swing bed, Extended Care Facility and the outpatient clinic. Interventionsmay include exercise for strengthening and/or flexibility, gait training, balance training, traction and modalities (ultrasound, electrical stimulation, heat/cold) for pain relief and massage. Physical therapy also offers a state of the art Axial Decompression Traction Unit.

Sojourners: Sojourners is a multi-disciplinary staff of caring professionals whose main focus is mental health and quality of life for the elderly. The 14 bed unit is able to effectively treat many mental health issues in geriatrics such as depression, anxiety, delusions and other behavioral disorders.

Extended Care Facility: The Extended Care Facility at JDCH is a 60 bed nursing home dedicated to providing skilled nursing care to the elderly. A social worker is on site to coordinate needed services for residents and their families. Residents participate in arts and crafts, gardening, cooking and outings, as their medical condition dictates.
